The focus of this wiki is The Google Business Model and is part of an academic assessment for MMU Network Technologies by Waseem Tahir and Matt Day.

This wiki outlines how Google forged a new business model by used text based adverts based on search queries and explores Google’s ambition to index the world knowledge and their plans to become the information resource of your choice by introducing products and services beyond search. It also explores the concerns associated with Google wanting a controlling interest on the world's information and highlights the problems encountered with privacy concerns, copyright and censorship.

Just in case you've been living under a rock, here's a brief introduction to Google?

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in 1998 and with the innovative Page Ranktm technology, it quickly became the market leader in the search sector, currently owning a 65% market share of Total Core Search market2. The introduction of text based adverts based on keyword searches on its search engines in 2000 enabled Google to establish a different way to make money and become profitable by Autumn 2002.
